Brighton Stuns Liverpool at Anfield, Lead 1-0 at Halftime in Premier League Clash

Brighton Stuns Liverpool

Liverpool face an uphill battle as they trail Brighton 1-0 at halftime in a Premier League showdown at Anfield. Ferdi Kadioglu put the Seagulls ahead in the 15th minute with a stunning strike, leaving Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher grasping as the ball curled off the post and into the net. The early goal capitalized on an unpredictable cross from Kaoru Mitoma, slightly redirected by Danny Welbeck to find Kadioglu in the box.

Brighton, guided by first-year manager Fabian Hurzler, dominated much of the first half. They outshot Liverpool 7-4 and claimed 53% of possession, pressing the Reds defensively and creating multiple scoring opportunities. Liverpool, who had a promising League Cup win earlier in the week against the Seagulls, appear unsettled with their defensive line missing Ibrahima Konate. Konate was seen walking off the field with an apparent shoulder injury late in the first half, adding to the Reds’ concerns.

Kelleher was instrumental in keeping Liverpool within striking distance, making a critical save in the 36th minute. Brighton forward Georginio Rutter broke free, but Kelleher’s quick reaction blocked the shot and prevented a two-goal deficit.

The Reds will need a stronger second-half performance to avoid a slip in the Premier League standings, as they seek to maintain pace in the title race.
