US election live: Voting under way in most US states

Polls are now open in over 40 states, along with the District of Columbia. They include six of the seven battleground states that are likely to decide the election – North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona.

Polls will soon open in the states of Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. The seventh battleground state, Nevada, will start voting at 15:00 GMT.
