election polls 2024

As Election Day approaches, polls suggest a razor-thin race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, with key battleground states poised to decide the outcome. While national polling shows shifting momentum, the USA TODAY/Suffolk poll released Friday highlighted a tie in Pennsylvania, a critical swing state with a significant number of electoral votes.

Both candidates will make final appeals to voters this weekend with appearances planned in North Carolina, a swing state pivotal to their electoral maps. Trump will host rallies in Charlotte and Greensboro, as well as Salem, Virginia. Harris will also rally in North Carolina after an afternoon event in Atlanta, Georgia, another must-win state.

According to a Washington Post poll released Friday, Harris leads Trump by a slim margin of 1 percentage point in Pennsylvania, securing 48% of likely and registered voters to Trump’s 47%, within the ±3.1 percentage point margin of error. The poll, conducted from October 26-30 among 1,204 registered voters, also included responses for a third-party candidate.

Voter enthusiasm remains high in Pennsylvania, where 20% of voters have already cast ballots and 73% are certain they will vote, setting the stage for a high turnout on Election Day. Both parties are pushing hard in swing states, recognizing that the outcome will likely come down to a handful of tightly contested regions.
